What Needs a Permit?

Waterfall

If you are doing work for the purpose of changing the use of the property, a Major Building Permit is required. Any construction work requires a permit. You can contact the Building Inspector’s office at (603) 692-9520 and ask any member of the staff for what permit is applicable before construction begins.

The average turn-around-time to process a Building Permit is two to ten working days. This is subject to the Inspector’s workload provided the permit application is complete and the Code Office has no questions.

Inspections are required for all construction that requires a permit (building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical permits) for Health Licenses and for zoning verification. Permit applications are available in the Development Services office or you can find them online here.

The owner or the contractors are responsible for scheduling the inspections. The contact information is attached to the permit application and has all the necessary information attached.

For any questions, please contact the Code Enforcement Office at (603) 692-9520.
