Somersworth Community Power- February 1st Rates Announced

Here are some key notes and information pertaining to the new rate period beginning February 1, 2026.

For customers in territories where Eversource distributes power (Somersworth)

The CPCNH (Somersworth Community Power) “Granite Basic” rate for residential and small commercial customers will be 14.663 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) from Feb 1, 2026 - July 31, 2026.

Eversource's default fixed rate for this same period will be 11.303 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) from Feb 1, 2026 - July 31, 2026.

Somersworth Community Power will be 3.36 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) more expensive than Eversource.

What is the CPCNH explanation for rate differential?

According to CPCNH rates are based upon its cost of service, including a community reserve adder sufficient to retire financing obligations in calendar year 2026. Retiring financing obligations and building community reserves will position local programs (Somersworth Community Power) through CPCNH to advance their competitiveness for years to come. Some utility rates include partial adders to collect prior period losses, while some losses are deferred for collection in future periods.

Why are electric rates increasing?

In addition to the factors addressed above, electricity rates are scheduled to increase for utilities and suppliers across New Hampshire. The electricity market is driven by factors such as the regional and global price of natural gas and other fossil fuels, availability of fuel and electricity supply, customer demand, and weather events. New England’s electricity market is heavily dependent on the price of natural gas, which is driven by global market trends and can react with volatility to geopolitical events around the world.

Can I switch back to Eversource as my default Energy supplier from CPCNH (Somersworth Community Power)?
