Dog License

2025 Dog Licenses will expire on April 30, 2025. Please license your dog (s) by April 30 to avoid late fees. Update rabies information may be needed to renew. You can renew you Dog License in the City Clerk's office, or online here.

In the State of New Hampshire all dogs are required to be licensed within 30 days after the age of 4 months.  The dog must have received a rabies vaccination. 

New residents are required to license their dog(s) within 30 days after moving to Somersworth. 

All dog licenses are renewed each year by the 30th of April to avoid fees, and must be current with their rabies vaccination.

According to RSA 466:13, any owner or keeper of a dog who fails to license the dog pursuant to RSA 466:1 shall forfeit $25.00 (civil forfeiture) to the city clerk of the municipality in which the dog is kept.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The fee to register your dog is as follows:

Puppies (under 7 months)                                $7.50
Neutered/Spayed Dogs                                    $7.50
Adult Dogs (not neutered/spayed)                   $10.00
Dog owned by Senior Citizen (65+)                   $2.00 (one dog per household)
Group License (5 dogs or more)                      $20.00 (per group)
Late fee commencing June 1st                          $1.00 (per month)
